From April 2017-April 2018, we celebrated our milestone 100th year as an agency. This spring, as we were envisioning our second Century of Hope, we thought it only fitting to refresh and refocus: on you. It is because of supporters like you that we are able to assist the 1 million clients we serve each year. It is because of you that we have been able to act as a Good Samaritan, helping all who turn to us in need.

Charity is not just about providing material assistance, but acting with the same love and mercy that Jesus showed to restore people’s dignity and give them hope for the future. Your support allows us to show people that they are cared for and that their lives matter.

We have very intentionally redoubled our efforts to serve those in need. We deepened our commitment in the Austin community on Chicago’s west side with our new Augustus Tolton Peace Center. We’ve expanded anti-violence programs throughout the city including youth mentoring, youth employment, and trauma-informed therapy. We broke ground on a new building in Round Lake. We are also creating an entire campus of services for those overcoming domestic violence. At our main headquarters at 721 N. LaSalle, we’ve added showers and laundry and remodeled the kitchen to restore the hope and dignity of those who come to our Evening Supper Program. That’s just to name a few.

Ever since our founding in 1917, Catholic Charities has been tremendously blessed with hard-working board members, dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and partners like you. Catholic Charities is not one entity working alone, but a collection of kindhearted and generous people working together to help their neighbors.

As we watch the new buds of spring blossom into abundant life, let us be inspired to plant the seeds of hope in our poor and vulnerable brothers and sisters, so that their lives can bloom into abundant fruition. I invite you to join Catholic Charities as we embark on our second Century of Hope. Because of you, our future is bright!
